To Market, To Market
so we spent most of the day wandering around highpoint market longing to find something cool or something different. took me most of the day but i stumbled across this and even though i was slightly spooked, the more i look at it the more i enjoy it. i love the use of metal and wood, the humor behind it and the scale. i showed my youngest daughter this picture thinking she would find it creepy and to my surprise she loved it. maybe it just takes different eyes as with many things we see.
below are some other new pieces we find ourselves a bit giddy about.....

SavorNC Magazine Feature
Thanks to Lauren Eberle and SavorNC Magazine for their beautiful article featuring the home of K. Interiors designer Kate Newman in their Jan/Feb issue. Yes, that's Kate's lovely foyer (and pup) on the cover. Photos by Ashley Sellner.
Throw Tradition Out The Door
We like to call this "Dr. Seuss Meets Christmas Decor". We adore these lacquered red magnolia leaf wreaths from The Magnolia Company. We decided to play them up with out-of-proportion green bows, and there you have it. Playful, but oh so stylish!
Artist Lita Gatlin
Not only is Charlotte artist Lita Gatlin our next door neighbor but, in our opinion, is one of the most talented artists in the area. She has a way of bringing new life to traditional landscapes and uses color in a way that makes you feel as if you are standing inside the painting.
See more of Lita's work at www.litagatlin.com.
Fabulous Feast
When we saw this stuffed emperor pheasant at an antique shop we knew he was coming home with us. And even though he is usually perched on top of an old hutch, we thought what a great addition to a holiday table setting!
From Thanksgiving turkey to New Years Eve dinner, this tablescape gives off an air of rustic casualness while showing a glimpse of glam. We mixed antique china patterns with an array of gold chargers and alternated the pattern. This helps to make the table feel less formal and more inviting.
And we know our pheasant loved being the center of attention.
